Why Calacatta quartz instead of real Calacatta marble? Real Calacatta marble is £700-£1,000/m² and stains/etches from lemon juice, wine and acidic foods. Calacatta quartz delivers the same dramatic look for £180-£280/m² and is completely non-porous. Customers regret marble far more often than they regret Calacatta quartz.
Choosing the right Calacatta
Vein flow varies dramatically between slabs. We strongly recommend viewing the actual slab before ordering — a sample shows only a fraction of the design. Visit any of our 3 showrooms to see full slabs in natural daylight.

Compare the character of the veining
Calacatta Gold brings warm gold detail to a white background. Calacatta Venato offers grey veining, while Calacatta Viola creates a more pronounced burgundy and brown pattern. View the individual products and compare a larger surface image as well as a sample.
Plan the pattern across separate pieces
An island, a long run and a splashback each show the design differently. Discuss where the main veins will sit, where joins may be needed and how adjacent pieces can be arranged. A small sample shows local colour and texture, but it cannot guarantee the pattern on every finished piece.
Use cabinet finishes to set the balance
Plain cabinet fronts give a stronger vein pattern more space. Timber and warm metal finishes can also change how a gold or brown detail reads. Compare the materials together, then decide which part of the kitchen should draw the eye first.
See Calacatta Venato in a real kitchen
Arjun’s project pairs Calacatta Venato with rose-gold details and a revised preparation and cooking layout. The Hadley kitchen uses the same named surface in an open-plan setting with white cabinets and brass accents. These examples show how the surrounding finishes influence the result.
Price the full design
Ask for the selected colour, thickness, edge, splashbacks and cut-outs to be included in the quote request. A waterfall end or a carefully arranged vein pattern can affect the pieces and fabrication required. Use the price guide to compare the same scope across your shortlist.
Frequently asked questions
Is Calacatta quartz natural marble?
No. On this page, Calacatta describes a marble-inspired quartz design. The product is engineered quartz, with its own composition and care requirements.
Can the veins continue perfectly across every join?
The result depends on the design, available slabs and cutting layout. Discuss the proposed arrangement before fabrication rather than assuming that every join can be invisible.
